Humor helps us keep going here. A few weeks ago a man who was in with another medical complaint, shared that he had an operation, a caesar, which is the expression they use for caesarean-section. So I asked if he had a boy or a girl. His family laughed and laughed. Turned out he had his gallbladder out and had thought that any operation was a caesar.
Another patient was scheduled for rabies shots after a human bite. While the biter might have been mad, it hopefully wasn’t that kind of mad. As the saying goes, humor is the best medicine. We say that’s the case for patient and doctor alike.
