Often called “The Jesus Film”, “Jesus” is a gripping movie that depicts Jesus Christ’s life. It’s biblically accurate, based on Luke’s Gospel. Actually a team of 500 scholars and leaders from secular and Christian organizations researched historical elements for the film. Then in 1979, filming took place throughout the Middle East.
A little girl Rifa Moni was added to our wards, 9 years old and had been dragged by a battery powered vehicle for many yards, resulting in a battered head and mangled body. She was in a coma for a week. So it was with great joy when I went back to work Sunday morning after another long weekend on call to see her eyes half open and that she was talking on the telephone.
As Memorial Christian Hospital continues our daily care of patients in our old, undersized facility, crowds of steely construction workers are building for better days. MCH’s renewal project has high hopes. These two 4-floor wings will welcome many patients in the years ahead.
In the final game of this past World Cup, Germany’s soccer team won the championship. The world was impressed. Though other teams boast remarkable star-players, every one of Germany’s players is excellent. What a team they are! Of course, Bangladeshis, young and old, watched the games and still discuss the details.

Shikkhar Alo’s teacher asked his young students another question. Instantly, arms shot up. Hands waved in the air. He called one boy who then sprung to his feet and recited Bangladesh’s 6 seasons perfectly. “Well done,” the teacher nodded.
I’ve met lots of interesting people during my years with AOB Bangladesh, but without a doubt my favorite group is our apprentices.
Since AOB’s founding in 1957, God has faithfully and at times miraculously preserved this organization. He continues to show us His amazing grace.
